VIP Volume 6: Heavenly Treasures, A Mortal's Journey to Immortality

Half a day later, in a pest-infested area deep within the Ten Thousand Poison Valley, over a dozen giant, silvery fireballs suddenly shot out. With several whooshing sounds, these fireballs did not explode but transformed midway into over a dozen lifelike fire snakes, lunging onto the ground. Intense heat rose, and a small sea of flames instantly formed, incinerating all the poisonous insects on the ground in the blink of an eye.

“Tsk, tsk! Fellow Daoist Han’s control over spells has truly reached an extraordinary level. If one were to say you primarily cultivate fire-attribute techniques, few would disbelieve it.” A woman's light laughter came.

“It’s nothing. Back when my cultivation was low, fire bullet spells were my favorite to use. It’s simply a matter of practice makes perfect,” Han Li replied with a calm voice.

Then, amidst the silver light in the distant mist, the figures of the large man, Han Li, and others successively emerged and walked towards the gradually extinguishing sea of flames. Han Li’s gaze swept across the distance, and with a slight change in expression, he suddenly stopped. The poisonous mist on the opposite side of the sea of flames was unusually thin, vaguely revealing something. But before he could release his spiritual sense, the leading large man suddenly pointed his jade ruyi scepter above his head. The artifact immediately flared with silver light and shot forward. Under the illumination of the silver light, everything that had been misty in the distance became clear.

Han Li gasped when he saw it clearly. Just dozens of feet ahead, a massive gully appeared. Looking to both sides, it was impossible to discern the length of the gully through the haze. However, its width was a full hundred *zhang*. Occasionally, faint black yin winds would spew from within, scattering the surrounding poisonous mist.

“This is the entrance to the Yin-Yang Cavern. Let’s go.”

Among these people, apart from Han Li and Bai Yaoyi, the others had been here before. Therefore, after the old man’s words, no one hesitated to walk over and stand by the giant gully. Although the yin winds spewing from the gully were extremely fierce, everyone appeared calm and unhurriedly looked downwards. Inside the giant gully, it was unfathomably deep, like an abyss. Masses of pitch-black yin winds churned into bizarre whirlpools of various sizes within the gully, accompanied by faint sounds of wailing ghosts and howling wolves. Han Li’s gaze swept across the gully walls below. He saw them sparkling translucently, seemingly coated with a thick layer of ice.

“What we’re seeing now isn’t the Soul-Shattering Yin Wind, but just ordinary yin wind. However, once we delve several hundred *zhang* deeper, the Soul-Shattering Yin Wind will appear. Without protection, even cultivators like us at the Nascent Soul stage wouldn’t be able to withstand it for long. But now that I have the Purple Nether Pearl, the threat this wind poses to us is naturally greatly reduced. However, the intensity of the Soul-Shattering Yin Wind varies in different parts of the Yin-Yang Cavern. Fellow Daoists, you are all extraordinarily experienced individuals, so I don’t need to elaborate on the importance of caution.” The elder surnamed Fu coughed lightly before speaking, waiting until everyone had finished examining the massive gully.

Then, with a lift of his hand, a purple, round pearl, about the size of a fist, suddenly appeared in his palm. The moment the pearl appeared, Han Li scrutinized it. Instantly, he felt purple shadows flickering in his vision, and his spiritual consciousness became uncontrollably hazy, as if his soul was about to fly directly out of his body. He couldn’t help but be startled, but just then, the Great Evolution Arts within him spontaneously activated. A wave of coolness flashed through his mind, and his consciousness returned to normal. Han Li remained calm on the surface, but inwardly he was still terrified. As expected of the Demonic Sect’s sect-suppressing treasure, it was indeed very sinister.

Thinking this, Han Li couldn’t help but glance at the large man surnamed Yuan and Bai Yaoyi. The two of them had flickering eyes and looked rather unwell. It seemed that, unprepared, they had also suffered a hidden disadvantage from the pearl. It was unclear what secret technique these two used to escape the pearl’s mind-bewildering effect.

The elder surnamed Fu, however, seemed to ignore their probing glances. Instead, he cradled the pearl with one hand and chanted a series of obscure incantations. Immediately, a dazzling radiance flashed, and a faint halo emanated from the pearl, enveloping an area of over thirty *zhang*. Han Li and the other three were also within the pale purple halo, and the previously fierce and icy yin winds around them significantly weakened by more than half.

“The Purple Nether Pearl truly lives up to its reputation!” The large man surnamed Yuan put away his jade ruyi scepter and couldn't help but exclaim in admiration upon seeing this.

“This pearl is nothing to speak of now; its true power remains to be seen. Let’s descend,” the elder said indifferently, cradling the Purple Nether Pearl with one hand and conjuring a mass of purplish-red light mist with the other. Then, green light flickered around his body as he slowly floated downwards into the gully.

Han Li and the others naturally stayed within the range of the purple halo, likewise releasing their protective artifacts and following him into the deep gully. The large man released an emerald green jade tablet, which hovered above his head; Bai Yaoyi had an ice crystal flying dagger, which circled her body; and the black-clad beautiful woman manifested a pitch-black shield, which stayed close to her front. Han Li merely unleashed several golden flying swords to protect his entire body. A short while later, after a rapid flash of spiritual light, their figures were swallowed by the pitch-black whirlpools below, vanishing without a trace. The vicinity of the giant gully returned to quiet once more.

Meanwhile, as Han Li and his group entered the Yin-Yang Cavern, seven or eight cultivators were floating in the air above an unnamed small lake in Southern Xinjiang, listening to a black-clad cultivator speak. These cultivators, both Daoist and secular, were strikingly several of the Ye family cultivators who had gathered in the imperial palace months ago. The large-headed strange man also stood swaying in the center of the crowd, next to him was the square-faced cultivator at the Mid Nascent Soul stage. Not far behind him was a young man, an ancient devil whose face closely resembled Han Li’s. This devil now listened to the cultivator’s narration with an expressionless face. The black-clad cultivator was at the Core Formation stage, but facing these Nascent Soul stage clan elders, his demeanor was exceptionally respectful.

“Four hundred years ago, after our Ye family learned the approximate location of the ‘Kunwu’ Spiritual Mountain from a ruined tablet in an ancient ruin, we began planning this matter. This renowned immortal sacred land from ancient times, for unknown reasons, was submerged beneath the ground by ancient cultivators using immense divine powers. Not only was this mountain once teeming with ancient cultivator caves and absolutely worth exploring, but more importantly, the stone tablet also revealed that when the ancient cultivators sealed this mountain, they left behind two Heavenly Treasures within it. If our Ye family could obtain these two treasures, our strength would immediately double, enough to deter the great sects of both the righteous and demonic paths. We spent over a hundred years dispatching numerous clan disciples, almost traversing half of the Great Jin, and finally discovered the location recorded on the stone tablet beneath this lake. We immediately sent our clan’s formation masters to begin breaking the restrictions. Because this matter was of great importance, it had always been solely managed by the previous generation’s Grand Elder, and only a handful of other elders knew about it.” The black-clad cultivator paused here, then continued:

“However, these ancient restrictions are far more profound than we imagined, layered one after another, almost covering an area of a hundred *li* underground. It took over a dozen formation masters another hundred years to finally devise a method to unlock the restrictions. We must leverage the power of heaven and earth, using formations to break formations, to completely remove the sealed restrictions. However, the sheer quantity of materials required and the number of formations to be set up for this 'formation-breaking-formation' process make it an incredibly massive undertaking. But most importantly, many of the materials for setting up the formations are exceptionally rare, and we must meticulously collect them bit by bit. The acts of setting up the formations must also be done stealthily, absolutely avoiding attracting the attention of anyone with ulterior motives. Otherwise, we would merely be doing groundwork for others. Therefore, the deployment of the restriction-breaking formations has been intermittent, having been halted several times. Only now is this project finally nearing completion. Currently, our clan’s formation masters are setting up the last formation at the bottom of the lake, which is estimated to be finished in about a month’s time. At that point, we will also activate a super concealment formation to suppress all the astonishing phenomena that occur during the breaking of the restrictions, allowing the elders to enter Kunwu Mountain and retrieve the treasures at their leisure.”

After explaining, the black-clad cultivator immediately stepped aside, hands clasped, and said nothing further.

“Kunwu Mountain? So our objective for this trip is actually this mountain?”“Unbelievable! I always thought it was just some ancient cultivator’s cave dwelling!”“Tsk, tsk, only an immortal mountain like Kunwu could possibly possess Heavenly Treasures.”For a moment, aside from the strange man, the square-faced cultivator, and the ancient devil, the other cultivators couldn't help but whisper excitedly, unable to conceal their elation.

“Hmph! Don’t get too excited too soon. Breaking the restrictions is merely the first step to retrieving the treasures. If the treasure retrieval were truly this simple, why would Third Brother gather all of us here and invite Seventh Uncle to assist us? Moreover, as a Grand Elder, Third Brother will also avoid the notice of other sects and arrive here in a month to enter Kunwu Mountain with us,” the square-faced cultivator said with a darkened expression. Upon hearing this, the other cultivators fell silent.

“Listening to your words, Elder Brother, is something amiss within Kunwu Mountain?” a Ye family elder dressed in Daoist robes couldn’t help but ask.

“It’s more than just amiss; it’s not impossible for us to go in this time and never return,” the square-faced middle-aged man said grimly.

“How is that possible? We have Seventh Uncle and Third Brother, two great cultivators, on our side. Even if there are formidable restrictions, we should be fine,” a scholar also exclaimed in surprise.

“If only it were that simple. Don’t you wonder why Kunwu Mountain, such a perfectly fine spiritual mountain and sacred land, was sealed by those ancient cultivators, and why they even left behind Heavenly Treasures? Who knows what shocking secrets lie within? The dangers involved are considerable.” The square-faced cultivator said ominously. Upon hearing this, the others couldn’t help but exchange bewildered glances.

“Alright, this is just the worst-case conjecture. Perhaps there was some other compelling reason why this mountain was sealed. There’s no need for you to worry too much. However, necessary caution is indeed a must. If anything truly happens, this old man will not sit idly by,” the strange man said with a chuckle. At this point, the others’ expressions returned to normal.

But just then, the square-faced middle-aged man turned his head and suddenly addressed the ancient devil behind him with a serious expression: “Elder Han, you are well-versed in various ancient texts. This time, entering Kunwu Mountain, we will need your assistance significantly. Rest assured, we have already found two demonic artifacts, and as soon as this matter is concluded, I will hand them over to you, Fellow Daoist.”
