“Stop talking, I’ve made up my mind!” the tall, thin second brother said resolutely.

The young woman became anxious and quickly turned back, casting a pleading look at the youth and the old man.

After exchanging glances, the youth remained silent, but the old man sighed and said, “Fifth sister, let the second brother go! He’s atoning for what happened earlier. Only by doing this will he feel better!”

“But, second brother like this…” The woman still wanted to argue, but the second brother had already walked up to Han Li and calmly said, “Senior, let’s begin! Use me for the experiment.”

What he said was quite poignant, but what happened next left the four of them stunned, as if doused with cold water.

“Are you mistaken about something? When did I ever agree to lift your Blood Curse?!”

Han Li’s words were chilling, leaving the Five Mount Meng Friends staring at each other in bewilderment.

“If Senior doesn’t intend to lift our curse, why are you studying this curse on my elder brother?!” the second brother of the Five Mount Meng Friends asked hastily after his initial shock.

“Did I say I was studying this Blood Curse to lift it for you? I was merely curious!” Han Li said expressionlessly.

Seeing Han Li’s cold face and hearing his merciless words, the group was dumbfounded on the spot!

“But Senior, don’t you want to know about those people? If you don’t lift the Blood Curse for us, how can we answer your questions?” the youth stammered, his face full of anxiety, clearly unwilling to let go of the hope before them.

Upon hearing this, Han Li glanced at him sideways, then scoffed a few times before silently looking up at the sky.

Han Li disdained to answer such obvious questions.

“Fourth brother, don’t ask any more. This Senior believes that the information he gets from us isn’t enough to warrant saving our lives, which is why he’s unwilling to act easily!” The black-faced old man, as expected of someone much older and more experienced than the youth, hit the nail on the head.

“What conditions does Senior have for acting? Please just say it directly. As long as you can truly remove the Blood Curse, we, the Five Mount Meng Friends, will not hesitate,” the old man continued calmly.

“Good! If you had said this earlier, we wouldn’t have had to beat around the bush.”

Han Li suddenly clapped his hands, smiled slightly, and became amiable.

However, to the four of them, Han Li appeared even more capricious, unknowingly instilling a sense of awe in their hearts.

“The conditions are simple! If I can resolve your major problem, not only must you tell me everything you know, but you must also temporarily obey my commands starting today. Help me deal with these people’s attacks. I estimate they won’t let me off so easily, and I also want to deal with them quickly.”

“However, you don’t need to worry about being outnumbered! I am a cultivator from Huangfeng Valley. I’ve only come to Yuejing to handle some sect affairs. As long as we hold out for a while, I will request reinforcements. Then, you won’t need to fear these scoundrels anymore.”

Han Li explained the conditions amiably. He didn't hesitate to invoke the sect's name, as only this would make them fully committed.

“Senior is a cultivator from Huangfeng Valley!”

Although the old man had long suspected Han Li’s origin was within the Seven Sects, a smile still appeared on his face when he heard Han Li admit it himself.

“Alright. Everything will be as Senior says. We won’t stand by. After all, once the Blood Curse is lifted, we will certainly become their targets. Staying by Senior’s side might even be safer!” The black-faced old man agreed very readily.

The youth and the woman, hearing the old man’s words, also showed delight and didn’t object! They clearly agreed with the old man’s approach.

To them, the Seven Sects were naturally much more powerful than the forces that controlled them with the Blood Curse. Of course, they could seek refuge.

The tall, thin second brother, however, looked hesitant, as if he wanted to say something but was unsure.

“If Senior’s method for lifting the Blood Curse truly works, we have one more request that we hope Senior can grant.” After glancing at the second brother, the black-faced old man suddenly made a solemn request to Han Li.

Seeing this, Han Li had some inkling of what was coming, but he still said indifferently, “What is it? As long as it’s not too outrageous, I will do my best to fulfill it.”

At this point, Han Li seemed remarkably agreeable.

“My fourth sister is still in a civilian residence in Yuejing City. Now that we’ve been caught by Senior, we don’t know if anything has happened to her. We hope Senior can rescue her when the time comes,” the old man said with a solemn expression.

“Big brother!”

The tall, thin second brother’s face was filled with gratitude upon hearing this.

“Alright, since you’re temporarily following me, I will naturally rescue your partner. But for now, quickly eliminate the poison in your bodies, otherwise, in less than an hour, you’ll be dead! What good is talking about a curse then?!”

Han Li readily agreed, but then his tone shifted, and he uttered words that made the four of them tremble with fear.

“What potent poison? We should only have the Blood Curse on us!” The youth’s expression changed, and he asked, somewhat alarmed and somewhat skeptical.

Seeing the youth doubt his words, Han Li did not get angry. He simply put on a stern face and said, “When I checked the Blood Curse just now, I discovered that besides the Blood Curse, your elder brother also has a potent poison in his body. This poison is not only extremely virulent but also very unstable, likely to act up soon. Fortunately, I have some experience with detoxification; removing it is merely a trivial matter, so there’s no need to worry much about it. Of course, if you don’t believe me, you can wait for a short while and see if you truly die from the poison!”

After Han Li said this, the four of them were mostly convinced.

“So that’s it. I wondered why the person who gave us orders suddenly insisted we drink a cup of wine with him before we left. It turns out that wine was poisoned. We all thought that since we already had the Blood Curse, the other party wouldn’t play any more tricks, so no one paid attention to it. Their methods are truly vicious!” the tall, thin second brother said with a very grim expression.

The youth and the young woman then showed expressions of sudden realization, while the old man’s face was gloomy, seemingly having already thought of this.

Since Han Li had decided to enlist the Five Mount Meng Friends as his helpers, he naturally wouldn’t delay and let the poison take effect. He immediately reached into his storage pouch, pulled out two ceramic bottles, one white and one green, and tossed them to the black-faced old man.

“Take one pill from each of these bottles, and most of the poison will be dispelled. You can gradually circulate your energy later to force out the remaining toxins.” Han Li explained it very simply. The black-faced old man immediately followed his instructions, distributed the pills to the other three, and took his own without any hesitation.

It seemed the old man clearly understood that if Han Li wanted to harm them, he wouldn’t need to tamper with the antidote, so he swallowed it with peace of mind.

Soon after taking Han Li’s pills, the group experienced intense abdominal pain.

The young woman’s face flushed, and then she suddenly stomped her foot. She barely managed to control her artifact and ascended into the air, flying towards a nearby small hill. However, because she was still under Han Li’s restrictions, her flying speed was quite slow.

Seeing this, the other three men also awkwardly found secluded spots to excrete the toxins from their bodies.

A moment later, the three men returned to Han Li’s presence, looking embarrassed.

After waiting a short while, the woman also flew back, a blush still lingering on her face.

“Alright, let’s start removing the Blood Curse now! Who’s first?” Han Li said directly, without delay.

“Of course…”

Just as the second brother began to speak and tried to step forward, a bony hand grabbed his arm.

“Second brother, you still have third sister! My old bones can’t form a foundation, so I won’t live much longer. Let me go first. After all, third sister’s child needs your care!” the black-faced old man said calmly.

“Big brother! No, how can I let…”

The tall, thin second brother shook his head like a rattle drum, emotionally refusing to agree.

Seeing this, the youth and the young woman also spoke up, asking to be the first to take the risk!

“Stop arguing, let your elder brother go first. After all, I just examined his body, so I’ll have a better grasp of things this way!”

Although the profound camaraderie displayed by these four was very moving, Han Li had no time to appreciate it, as it didn't concern him directly. He was eager to find out if he could truly lift the Blood Curse. If not, everything he had done so far would be in vain, and he would have to make other plans.

Since Han Li had spoken, the four had nothing more to argue about, so the old man walked over with a solemn expression.

The other three exchanged glances, then could only watch the old man’s actions with worried eyes.

Bang! Bang!... There were six or seven consecutive thuds.

With a flick of his hand, several life-sized soldier puppets, holding weapons, appeared behind Han Li amidst a flash of white light.

“When I am dispelling the Blood Curse, I cannot divide my attention to deal with enemies. These puppets are a warning mechanism. Anyone who enters within ten zhang of me will be actively attacked! You’d best keep your distance!” Han Li’s words, without reserve, indicated that he still could not trust them. This left the three with no choice but to retreat a bit.
