Half a day later, outside the massive sand dune on the surface, a colossal explosion suddenly erupted. Immediately after, the triangular structure atop the sand dune exploded.
Amidst countless flying debris, a large mass of green flames surged out, hovered briefly at a low altitude, and then shot away into the distance. Within the voluminous green flames, a deer-headed demonic beast could be vaguely seen roaring continuously.
The beast was covered in strange crimson blood, its body riddled with wounds, and shockingly, one of its original four claws was missing. But at that instant, a dazzling silver light shot out like lightning from below and quickly circled the massive demonic beast within the green flames.
Immediately, a pained roar echoed!
The green flames surged, transforming into a streak of green light that shot towards the horizon, disappearing from sight in mere moments. In the air where it had been, besides a scattering of crimson blood, a half-shattered, crystalline purple horn fell, landing on the nearby sand with a thud. It sank several feet deep, appearing incredibly heavy.
At this moment, a figure slowly flew out from the large crater exposed by the triangular building's explosion, pausing to hover at a low altitude. This figure, clad in a green long robe, had an unusually youthful face; it was Han Li himself!
After Han Li raised his head and glanced in the direction the beast had disappeared, he shook his head. Then he lowered his gaze to the pool of beast blood on the ground, saw the half-buried purple horn in the sand, and a faint, unreadable smile flickered across his face.
He raised an arm, making a grasping motion in the empty space above the ground, and an invisible force immediately emanated. With a "whoosh"! The half-shattered purple horn immediately flew out of the ground and lightly settled into Han Li's hand, as if it weighed nothing at all.
Han Li's spiritual sense swept over the purple horn, and a look of satisfaction crossed his eyes. But then his expression changed as he perceived something, and with a flip of his hand, the broken horn vanished in a flash.
The next moment, from the large crater Han Li had emerged from, a figure flickered, and a graceful silhouette also flew out—it was the purple-haired woman from the Bai family. Upon seeing Han Li, the woman immediately smiled faintly and gently parted her red lips to ask:
“Brother Han, did you manage to catch that demonic beast? Even if you didn't, it's alright. The five of us jointly inflicted heavy damage on it, so it probably won't dare to approach this mine again.”
“Rest assured, Fairy!” Han Li pointed at the pool of crimson blood with a finger, replying calmly. “When this beast escaped, I struck it with another sword blow. Coupled with its previous severe injuries, it will likely need hundreds of years of recuperation to fully recover.”
“If that's truly the case, then that's wonderful. This problem is resolved. Let's return now to meet up with my elder brother and the others to discuss other matters.” The purple-haired woman glanced at the sand where Han Li had pointed, her face immediately showing joy, but then she seemed to remember something else she wanted to say.
“Alright, let's go down.” Han Li had no other objections, so he nodded and floated towards the large crater.
The purple-haired woman looked at the pool of crimson blood, thought for a moment, then clapped her jade hand in the air. With a “bang”! A large pit appeared in the sand, and a huge amount of sand immediately swept the beast's blood into it, completely burying it. Seeing this, the purple-haired woman finally felt completely at ease and floated down after Han Li.

Several hours later, in the cave where the intense battle had previously taken place, Han Li, the purple-haired woman, and the yellow-haired man—three Demon Venerables in total—had gathered and were discussing something. Among them, Lord Luan Long and the yellow-haired man had dim eyes and slightly pale faces, appearing to have lost some vital energy. Han Qizi, however, whose eyes were visible through his mask, remained as cold as ever, his spiritual energy seemingly as abundant as before.
“Fairy Futian! As you said, that demonic spirit is very likely the spirit formed by this mine. If that's the case, this demonic spirit won't leave the mine. Otherwise, it will slowly dissipate and die on its own,” Lord Luan Long said, his chubby face jiggling as his small eyes blinked several times.
“This demonic spirit wiped out six of our Bai family's Void Refinement disciples in moments. Its rank is probably not low; it might even be capable of operating independently from this place...” the purple-haired woman said, sounding less certain.
“That's true. Even if we had intervened, we wouldn't have been able to eliminate six Void Refinement cultivators so quickly. Brother Bai, what are your plans next?” Lord Luan Long nodded thoughtfully, then asked in return.
“Although the demonic beast was heavily injured and driven off, with that demonic spirit still present, this mine cannot be properly exploited. I'm afraid I'll need the assistance of the three fellow Daoists. Otherwise, relying solely on my fifth sister and me, we wouldn't have much confidence in dealing with this demonic spirit,” the yellow-haired man said frankly.
Upon hearing this, Lord Luan Long and Han Qizi exchanged glances. After knitting his brows, Lord Luan Long slowly spoke:
“Brother Bai, this might not be appropriate. We only agreed to deal with the late-stage Demon Venerable beast. This demonic spirit was not a pre-arranged target. Moreover, this demonic spirit is so strange that even Fellow Daoist Futian almost fell victim to it; its danger level probably surpasses that of the previous demonic beast. Furthermore, in this operation, due to the additional harassment from this demonic spirit, we have already undertaken considerable risks. Otherwise, I might not have suffered such a great loss.”
Lord Luan Long coughed lightly, appearing unwilling to take further risks. Although Han Qizi didn't speak, his meaning was clearly similar.
Hearing these words, the yellow-haired man's face slightly darkened, and a hint of anger arose in his heart, but he spoke with unusual calm:
“This matter with the demonic spirit was an oversight on our Bai family's part. We didn't detect its existence beforehand; otherwise, we would have prepared the appropriate special magical artifacts to deal with this fiend. However, Brother Luan Long, rest assured, as long as you all continue to assist, the various rewards we previously paid will be doubled by our Bai family. Moreover, although that demonic spirit's abilities are incredibly strange, Fellow Daoist Han's demonic flames seem to be able to counter such demonic spirits, and he even unexpectedly killed one of its avatars. It should be severely wounded now, having perhaps lost a good portion of its abilities, making this an excellent opportunity for us to eliminate it.”
After saying this, the large man smiled at Han Li and quietly sent a telepathic message:
“As long as Brother Han agrees to help eliminate this demonic spirit, in addition to giving you an extra six-legged demonic lizard, I, Bai, am willing to let you choose three other treasures from the Bai family's treasury.”
Han Li's eyes narrowed slightly, naturally intrigued. He subtly nodded without changing his expression. Seeing this, the large man felt a great sense of relief. If they were to deal with that demonic spirit, Han Li, who could restrain the silver flame abilities, was naturally indispensable.
“The reward is doubled! Does that include the Bloodfang Rice?” Lord Luan Long asked eagerly, a hint of joy appearing on his face after hearing the large man's words.
“Apologies! We truly have no Bloodfang Rice left in our Bai family. However, I, Bai, am willing to use a piece of Blood-Refined Fine Gold as alternative compensation. What do you think, Brother Luan Long? I recall that you've been looking for this item for quite some time.” The yellow-haired man seemed to have anticipated this and replied without hesitation.
“Blood-Refined Fine Gold. Although this item is not as good as Bloodfang Rice, for me, it is sufficient compensation.” Lord Luan Long was first taken aback, his expression wavered for a moment, then he somewhat reluctantly agreed.
“Excellent! Fellow Daoist Han Qizi and Brother Han have no other objections, right?” The large man was overjoyed and turned to ask Han Qizi.
Han Qizi's eyes flickered a few times, then he slowly nodded. Han Li, naturally, merely smiled slightly, directly indicating his agreement. Thus, they began to discuss in detail the method to deal with the demonic spirit, and eventually came up with a feasible plan.

For the time that followed, everyone began to meditate and recuperate in the cave, holding demonic stones, without rushing into immediate action. Several days later, when the group's depleted magic power had finally recovered somewhat, they split into two teams and commenced their operation. Han Li and the purple-haired woman formed one team, while the yellow-haired man, Lord Luan Long, and Han Qizi formed the other, proceeding to search along the mine veins in two different directions.
Two days later, in an unknown mine tunnel, the purple-haired woman walked at the forefront, holding a circular plate, while Han Li unhurriedly followed close behind. Her pace was not fast, and she occasionally lowered her head to check something on the circular plate, but there were no signs of any discovery.
“Can this Spirit-Locking Plate truly detect the demonic spirit's location?” Han Li finally asked.
“Rest assured, Brother Han,” the purple-haired woman replied with a charming smile, looking back. “Although this Spirit-Locking Plate isn't a magical artifact specifically for dealing with demonic spirits—it was originally used to detect rare materials—it is still quite effective under these circumstances. As long as the demonic spirit approaches within a hundred zhang of us, we will immediately detect it. Otherwise, due to its nature of being integrated with the mine, it would be impossible to find it by scanning with spiritual sense.”
“But this demonic spirit isn't unintelligent; it might not actively approach us,” Han Li said, shaking his head.
“Then we'll just directly find the source of this demonic spirit. Even if it was formed from a sliver of the mine's spirituality, once its root is destroyed, it will still naturally dissipate and die,” the purple-haired woman replied without hesitation.
“That may be true, but the mine is so vast that finding its root might not be an easy task. It could take seven or eight days, or even longer!” Han Li said with a sigh.
“Brother Han, that sounds a bit insincere. Is the price our Bai family paid not worth even six or seven days of your time?” the woman said with a light chuckle, a hint of allure on her face.
“Heh heh, that's not how this account is tallied,” Han Li said with a knowing smile.
As the purple-haired woman's beautiful eyes flickered, just as she was about to say something more, a low hum suddenly emanated from her. Startled, she immediately slapped her waist with one hand, and an object instantly flew out. It was a token-shaped magical artifact.
After the purple-haired woman quickly tapped the token several times with her finger, the joyful voice of the yellow-haired man emerged from it:
“Fifth Sister, hurry back. We've found that demonic spirit and jointly eliminated it. Just as we suspected, this demonic spirit was very weak and couldn't fight for long at all.”
After listening, the purple-haired woman was somewhat stunned. Han Li, who had also heard clearly from the side, immediately smiled faintly and said:
“It seems we won't have to stay here for ten days or half a month; we can return to Phantom Night City sooner.”
