Chapter 2060: Halfnight Demon Shadow

Though not large, Blood Crow City is the only supply point in the vicinity. It's not unusual for a demon lord to reside here temporarily or pass through. Furthermore, even if someone had ulterior motives, would they dare to offend the Hai family to the point of death and attack us? However, the true spirit bone we unexpectedly discovered this time is of great importance. It's one of the essential materials for the supreme treasure our Hai family is currently forging. If we can bring it back, the benefits will be immense. No matter how difficult, we must find a way to acquire this item." The demoness said with a grim expression after pondering for a moment.

"But, Madam! That person might be a demon lord. How can we possibly obtain that spirit bone?" another demon man said, clearly troubled.

"If he truly is a demon lord, then it is indeed very troublesome. The fact that he dares to show such disregard for our Hai family's prestige means he's likely a lone wolf, acting so brazenly. However, his indifference to the three of us here doesn't mean he has no reservations about others," the demoness said with a cold sneer.

"Ah, Madam, do you mean...?" The two demon men were startled by her words and exchanged confused glances.

"You two go inquire about the whereabouts of the Southern family's three brothers. Meanwhile, I'll go pay a visit to the Blood Crow City Lord. The Southern family seems to owe our Hai family a significant favor, and if I recall correctly, Bing Qianren is from Heavenly Radiance Valley, and they wouldn't easily refuse our requests. If they agree to help, we still have great hope of obtaining the spirit bone," the demoness said, her mind made up.

"This plan is brilliant! If the Southern family's three brothers and Bing Qianren join forces to exert pressure, I doubt that person will continue to hold onto a spirit bone that's somewhat dispensable to them. After all, we're not asking for it for free," one of the demon men said, greatly pleased.

The other man also nodded repeatedly in agreement.

"Since both of you agree there's no issue, let's act immediately. There's a beast tide raging nearby, so I doubt this person can leave Blood Crow City anytime soon. We don't need to worry about him taking the spirit bone and leaving right away," the demoness said, her expression softening as she gave the official command.

"Yes, Madam," the two demon men replied, bowing.

At the same time, Han Li was in a large shop, covering about an acre, carefully examining several pieces of metal ore that shimmered with a faint luster, which he had received from a demon shopkeeper.

However, shortly after, a look of disappointment appeared on his face. He shook his head, returned all the ore to the eagerly watching shopkeeper, and left without looking back.

As he had suspected, the Yimo Gold was indeed empty inside.

It seemed finding the exact crystal orb he sought was truly a matter of chance.

Having failed to achieve his objective and having generally visited all the shops in Blood Crow City, Han Li had no intention of lingering on the streets. He returned directly to his residence, seemingly unconcerned by his previous encounter with the demoness.

Half a day passed in a flash. As dusk settled, Blood Crow City gradually became enveloped in darkness.

At this time, apart from some patrolling demon guards, everywhere in the city grew quiet, and the streets were completely deserted. Blood Crow City had once again entered a state of curfew.

Several hours later, Han Li, who was sitting cross-legged in his room, suddenly stirred. A hint of surprise flashed across his face, and then, with a single hand gesture, a burst of greenish-blue light emanated from his body, and he vanished without a trace from the room.

A moment later, hundreds of feet above Han Li's residence, a slight ripple appeared, and a nearly imperceptible green light flashed into existence. It then soared away like a phantom, reaching the horizon after a few blinks, seemingly unaffected by the city's aerial restrictions.

Yet, within a few breaths, another gray light pierced the air from a different direction, flashing almost directly over Han Li's residence. Its escape speed appeared to be slightly faster than that of the green light.

Both streaks of light were silent and incredibly faint. In the darkness of night, they would be impossible to detect from afar unless one were observing them up close, clearly indicating that both had employed some kind of concealment art.

Chasing each other at lightning speed, they vanished beyond the horizon in the blink of an eye.

At this moment, space rippled, and a third figure vaguely materialized, gazing coldly in the direction where the two streaks of light had vanished. It was Han Li, who had detected their presence in advance.

Given the power of Han Li's spiritual sense, even without consciously extending it, nothing within several miles could escape his perception.

Although the two figures had managed to evade the patrolling demons, there was no way they could have hidden from him.

With his current divine abilities, he naturally feared no danger unless an Ancestral Saint personally appeared.

The fact that the two earlier individuals were not restricted by the city's aerial prohibitions and were stealthily chasing each other in the dead of night clearly indicated something clandestine was afoot, which piqued his interest.

"I'm idle anyway, so I might as well go take a look," Han Li murmured after a moment of contemplation. With a flicker of his form, he transformed into a faint streak of green light and shot out in pursuit.

His spiritual sense had already locked onto the two figures ahead. Although he could instantly catch up to them with his teleportation art, he deliberately slowed his pace, trailing them leisurely from a distance.

He wanted to see how far these two could go in a city as small as Blood Crow City.

Given Han Li's divine abilities, the two naturally couldn't detect the presence of a third person behind them, continuing their frantic escape with their heads down.

One after another, they soon reached the vicinity of the city wall. Just then, a small squad of demon guards, on patrol, approached from the front.

Each member of this demon squad wore black battle armor and wielded a red halberd several zhang long. The leader rode a two-headed, goat-like demonic beast.

Seeing this, the green light ahead paused momentarily. Instead of immediately evading, it curved, intending to rely on its superior concealment art to simply sweep past the vicinity.

The other person, flying in pursuit from behind, seemed afraid of losing the first. Their light flickered slightly, following the path ahead without deviation, also showing no intention of evading.

With their secret arts fully active, both streaks of light appeared transparent, virtually undetectable to the naked eye.

If it had been ordinary demon guards, they likely wouldn't have been able to discern their presence, allowing them to boldly sweep past.

However, just as the green light flickered past the patrolling squad, a sharp whistle suddenly came from the leading demon guard. Immediately after, a silver thread shot out, striking the invisible green light mass. This leading guard actually possessed a top-tier demonic artifact that could automatically sense targets!

The previously concealed light mass suddenly stumbled and revealed its true form. The demon guards were all startled by this but quickly reacted, swinging their long halberds at it. Over a dozen zhang-long blades of light came slashing down fiercely.

The leading guard, without hesitation, raised his palm towards the sky, and a black light shot out.

A piercing shriek tore through the air, reverberating far beyond the clouds.

"Damn it!" a low, furious growl came from within the green light mass, and a shadowy figure within it suddenly flickered.

Amidst the flashing blades, the green light mass was instantly sliced into a dozen pieces, but it was empty inside; no figure remained.

The leading demon guard was indeed extraordinary. He reacted immediately, pulling his demonic beast around.

Just thirty zhang away from their squad, a ripple appeared in the void, and a streak of green light pierced through, flashing towards the nearby city wall.

"Stop him!" the leading demon guard roared in fury, simultaneously slamming his hand onto one of his demonic beast's heads.

With two "puffs," the beast's two heads shook and simultaneously spat out two blue electric arcs. They flashed instantly to the back of the distant green figure and cleaved down fiercely.

Hearing the attack, the figure in the green streak merely twisted their hand, and a swirling mass of greenish-blue ethereal light erupted.

The two blue arcs roared as they merged into the ethereal light, but no further sound was heard, as if they had had no effect whatsoever.

After a flash of light on the green figure's body, it immediately transformed into a green rainbow and vanished from sight.

Seeing this, the other demon guards, who had been moving to surround the figure, were startled and involuntarily stopped their pursuit.

In his shock and fury, the leading demon guard was about to urge his demonic beast to give chase.

But at that moment, another sharp whistle emanated from him, and another silver thread flashed out to the side.

This time, however, a grim snort echoed from the void, and a flash of blood-red light appeared.

The silver thread struck the blood-red light with a crisp sound and bounced back, while the blood-red light instantly merged back into the void and vanished.

"Impossible, this divine ability is like..." The leading demon guard blurted out, but his face immediately paled as he recalled something, and his words abruptly cut off.

At the same time, the demonic beast beneath him, which had been about to spring forward, also quietly stayed put.

"Commander, should we continue the pursuit? The guards over there probably can't stop these two who are violating the prohibitions," one of the other demon guards asked cautiously after a moment's hesitation, naturally bewildered by what they had just witnessed.

"Forget it. Those two possess immense divine abilities; they're not people we can afford to provoke. Let them go," the leading demon guard said with a forced smile after his expression flickered several times.

Hearing this, the other demon guards all showed expressions of astonishment.

Their commander was such an arrogant and proud man; for him to make such an assessment of two individuals whose forms they hadn't even clearly seen was truly a first for them.

While these demon guards were filled with doubt and surprise, the two figures ahead had already flashed past the city wall amidst a commotion and escaped Blood Crow City.

The restrictions set up on the city wall seemed non-existent, offering no hindrance to either of them.

Han Li felt a surge of surprise, but after concealing his form, he also flashed past the leading demon guard. The silver thread, which had been remarkably effective, showed no reaction whatsoever to Han Li, who was almost directly beside it.

After a few light movements, he too flew to the city wall, and with a slight shimmer of his body, he effortlessly slipped through the restrictions without a sound.
