A Mortal's Journey to Immortality, Volume 10: Battle in the Demonic Realm
Above a vast, deep yellow desert, a bronze war chariot, pulled by two silver giant eagles, flew low, emitting a faint green glow.
Inside the chariot, Han Li sat cross-legged with his eyes slightly closed, a faint golden light shimmering on his skin.
Suddenly, his expression shifted. He raised an arm and waved it at the void in front of him.
Immediately, the space beneath the chariot rippled, and a green sword energy, dozens of feet long, flashed out from the void, striking downwards with immense force.
In a flash, the massive sword energy vanished into the yellow sand like a phantom.
A deafening roar echoed from beneath the yellow sand, and the surrounding sand instantly erupted upwards like a reversed waterfall.
From the misty yellow sand, an ancient beast resembling a giant silkworm, over a hundred feet long, appeared. However, its massive body only managed to sway in the air a few times before suddenly splitting into several sections and plummeting, simultaneously gushing out streams of green blood.
The war chariot did not pause in the sky for a moment. With a few flashes, it swept past the scene and continued to shoot rapidly into the distance.
Han Li, seated cross-legged in the chariot, kept his eyes closed the entire time. After lowering his arm, he continued to cultivate in silence.
Deep within an unknown ocean, in a secret chamber of a vast palace, a giant blood cocoon, seven to eight zhang in diameter, floated in mid-air.
Innumerable blood threads spewed from the blood cocoon, densely filling every corner of the entire secret chamber, leaving not an inch of empty space.
The blood cocoon itself was crystalline and somewhat translucent. Looking from a distance through the multitude of blood threads, a shadowy mass could be vaguely seen inside, expanding and contracting erratically. Moving closer, one could hear a dull thud every so often, as if a powerful heart was beating at an extremely slow rhythm.
Above an unknown colossal canyon on the Fengyuan Continent, a pure and ethereal woman in white and a grim-faced, ugly man in black robes hovered silently. They were surrounded by tens of thousands of alien beings, packed so tightly that not even water could seep through.
These alien beings were individually fat with green skin, unusually long necks, and two sharp, blade-like forelimbs, resembling colossal praying mantises that could stand upright.
However, below the canyon, countless alien corpses were already piled up, with green severed limbs almost covering the nearby ground, a truly shocking sight.
Although the black-robed man had no bloodstains on him, an aura of malevolent energy surged from his body. Both sides of his face were covered in coin-sized black scales, and his exposed forearms, where his sleeves were rolled up, were unusually dark. His hands had directly transformed into ten sharp daggers, making him look utterly ferocious.
In contrast, the woman in white stood upon a gigantic pink flower that had appeared out of thin air beneath her feet, her expression utterly relaxed and composed.
Despite being only two individuals, the tens of thousands of alien beings surrounding them were filled with both shock and rage, yet they all recoiled, clearly terrified.
“I’ll say this one more time,” the woman in white spoke, her tone light as if stating something trivial. “Hand over the Sacred Crystal Flower of your Green-Limbed Tribe, and I will leave immediately. Otherwise, I will have no choice but to annihilate your entire tribe and personally take the Sacred Flower.”
“The Sacred Flower is the most precious treasure that allows our tribe to survive. How could we hand it over to outsiders?” said a slightly darker-skinned alien, who stood in front of the others, glaring resentfully at the black-robed man who had just massacred their tribesmen. “Even if you possess immense divine power, this demand is absolutely impossible!”
He was an Integration Stage being, one of the most powerful cultivators among these tens of thousands of alien beings.
Behind him were three other early-Integration Stage beings, all with furious looks in their eyes.
However, during the recent battle, he and the other high-ranking Tribe Elders were completely suppressed by the woman in white’s formidable aura, unable to move a single inch. They could only watch helplessly as the black-robed man slaughtered their other tribesmen en masse.
Even though their tribesmen resisted desperately, within a short time, thousands were slaughtered by the man.
The opponent’s vast divine power and ruthless methods enraged them, yet also filled their hearts with an extreme chill.
They knew that their tribe had truly encountered a great calamity this time; one misstep and the disaster of annihilation was upon them.
“That is none of my concern,” the woman in white said indifferently, though her words were utterly cold and merciless. “Either hand over the Sacred Flower, or your tribe will be erased from the Spirit Realm right now. There is no second option.”
“Your Excellency, using your Mahayana cultivation to bully our small tribe, which has long since retreated into reclusion, and forcibly seize our treasure—do you not feel it is too much?” the Green-Limbed Tribe’s Grand Elder said, still unwilling, after hesitating for a long while.
“There’s no need to provoke me with words,” the woman in white said with a slight smile, yet her words caused all the alien beings to feel a chill in their hearts. “Your tribe’s Sacred Flower might be extremely useful to me, and I must obtain it. Do not harbor any illusions. I will count to ten aloud. If the Sacred Flower is not handed over by then, I will personally take action.”
“One,”
“Two,”
The woman in white actually began to count aloud, unhurriedly.
Although her voice was pleasant and melodious, to the surrounding alien beings, it sounded like the gong of a soul-collector, causing all their expressions to change drastically.
“Elder, there’s no need to count any further. I am willing to hand over the Sacred Crystal Flower!” the Green-Limbed Tribe’s Grand Elder said, his face pale with defeat, finally uttering words of surrender weakly.
“This is a wise decision!” the woman in white said with a light chuckle, raising her arm to brush a strand of hair from her forehead. “As long as you hand over the Sacred Flower, I naturally won’t have the slightest interest in your tribe anymore.”
Following this, everything proceeded very simply.
Under the Grand Elder’s instruction, one of the alien beings immediately returned to the Green-Limbed Tribe’s forbidden grounds in the canyon.
Less than half an hour later, the alien being, with a look of grief and indignation, handed a jade-green wooden box to the woman in white.
The woman didn’t even open the object in her hand. With just a brief sweep of her divine sense, her expression darkened. Seeing this, the grim-faced black-robed man’s expression shifted, and a hint of ferocity reappeared on his face.
This made the opposing Integration Stage alien beings’ hearts skip a beat, almost thinking the other party intended to renege on their agreement.
Fortunately, the next moment, the woman in white simply uttered a faint “Go” to the black-robed man. Then, with a movement of the gigantic pink flower beneath her feet, she immediately transformed into a mass of red light and soared away into the distance.
With a long roar, the black-robed man immediately transformed into a mass of black mist and closely followed the woman in white.
Moments later, both vanished completely from the sight of the alien beings.
Seeing this, the Green-Limbed tribesmen finally let out a long sigh of relief.
Although they had lost the Sacred Flower, a supreme treasure, which would make their already weak tribe’s future even more difficult, they had at least averted the immediate catastrophe of annihilation.
At the Grand Elder’s command, the Green-Limbed tribesmen immediately flew down into the canyon to begin collecting the remains of their fallen kin.
Meanwhile, the woman in white and the black-robed man were already tens of thousands of miles away in the high sky.
“Sacred Ancestor, is this Sacred Flower not what you were looking for?” the black-robed man couldn’t help but ask the woman in white after flying for a while longer.
“No, it isn’t,” the woman in white calmly replied. “It’s just a spiritual flower similar in appearance to what I’m searching for. Although it’s a rare Heavenly and Earthly Spiritual object in this realm, it’s of no use to me.”
“So, we’ve wasted our efforts again,” the black-robed man said, a look of disappointment on his face.
“How could such a thing be found by simply rushing?” the woman in white replied, her expression unchanging. “We’ve already searched several large tribes in the surrounding area. Next, we’ll move on to the adjacent region. While the Fengyuan Continent isn’t much larger than the Thunderclap Continent, it has several times more races, so it will take more effort to search them one by one.”
“Yes, My Lady,” the black-robed man replied with reverence, sighing inwardly, and then asked no more questions.
Eighty years later, above a vast blue ocean, a group of Flying Spirit people were frantically flapping their wings, soaring desperately.
These individuals, both male and female, were all quite young. The most powerful among them were merely at the Nascent Soul stage, with most only at the Core Formation stage.
However, regardless of their cultivation levels, the dozen or so Flying Spirit people, while flying with all their might, continuously glanced back, their faces filled with panic!
At the horizon behind them, a silver line had appeared at some unknown point, rapidly surging towards them at a visible speed, accompanied by faint, continuous rumbling sounds.
The Flying Spirit people’s expressions became even more terrified. One by one, they coughed up blood, either activating life-saving secret techniques or directly unleashing various treasures and spiritual talismans.
Immediately, their escape speed increased by more than half, yet even then, they could only maintain roughly the same speed as the silver line behind them.
After flying in this manner for over half an hour, the Flying Spirit people’s escape speeds finally began to slow down again as their spiritual power faltered.
With a surge, the silver line behind them quickly closed much of the distance between them.
At this point, the true nature of the silver line could be clearly seen with the naked eye.
It was, in fact, a boundless sea of hurricanes, stretching endlessly in both directions, roaring towards them at an incredible speed.
This wind sea was not only immensely vast but also pierced directly into the distant sky. Within it, countless electric arcs, hailstones, and other objects were faintly discernible, thundering incessantly, creating an astonishing spectacle!
Seeing that the sea of hurricanes was now only about a hundred li behind the Flying Spirit people, and would catch up in mere moments, the group of Flying Spirit people couldn't help but reveal expressions of despair.
During this sea trial, they had unexpectedly encountered the most famous natural disaster in the nearby sea region, the "Silver Tide." It was as if a disaster star had descended upon them, making it almost certain they wouldn't survive.
Despite this, the Flying Spirit people were naturally unwilling to simply wait for death.
Immediately, at the loud shout of a Nascent Soul-stage Flying Spirit person, the entire group gritted their teeth and stopped fleeing. They quickly formed a strange formation, each pulling out a several-zhang-tall spell banner from their storage bracelets and shaking them wildly!
