Chapter 1640: Magic Shadow Rampages

“Very well, can you locate that person?” the old voice asked coldly.

“Of course. Although these individuals used their cultivation techniques to conceal their spiritual energy, in the presence of such pervasive demonic energy, the aura of outsiders can’t be completely hidden. That person went in that direction! However, their aura is already very faint; they must have left some time ago. And because the demonic energy at high altitude moves so rapidly, I can’t guarantee that I can truly track them down by following this direction,” the woman stated honestly.

“Hmph, so useless!” the elder exclaimed, clearly angered by her words.

The woman, however, simply stood there, helpless.

At this moment, another large-horned man on the ground flew up, and after a few flashes, he reached the woman's side. He bowed deeply towards the sky and said:

“Reporting to master, I have extracted the remnant soul from the young master’s body and used a secret technique to reconstruct the murderer’s appearance.”

“Release it, let me see,” the elder commanded grimly.

The large-horned man assented, flicked his sleeve, and a glowing orb, interwoven with grey energy and black light, flew out. After a single rotation, it hovered motionlessly above his head.

The man formed hand seals, projecting streams of magical energy towards the orb above him.

With a soft *pop*, the orb burst open, and a dimly lit, half-human light silhouette appeared in the void.

The figure wore a green robe and shimmered with light. Its face was ordinary, but between its eyebrows, dark light flickered, revealing a single black eye. With just a slight movement, black energy swirled on its surface, making it appear exceptionally strange.

This figure was, of course, Han Li.

With a *bang*, the light silhouette, after appearing for only a few breaths, burst and dissipated.

“The Eye of Annihilation! Good, very good. It seems this person is indeed the one. Only the spatial divine ability of the Eye of Annihilation’s restrictions could break through my son’s teleportation escape path. We will depart immediately,” the elder said through gritted teeth after clearly seeing the third eye between Han Li’s brows.

“Forgive my impertinence. Is master planning to personally pursue and kill this individual?” the large-horned man hesitated for a moment and inquired.

“What? Do you find anything unclear about my command?” the elder’s voice was exceptionally grim.

“This subordinate dares not. But has master forgotten the reason for this emergence? The Ancestral Master’s avatar is about to fully awaken, aided by this surge of demonic energy. If master arrives late and the Iron Demons slander you before the Ancestral Master, I fear master may face trouble,” the large-horned man said with hesitation.

“Hmph, Iron Demons,” the elder snorted coldly. Although he sounded disdainful, he clearly hesitated.

“Very well, Jiuye, you are skilled in tracking and concealment. Regardless of the method, you must find these individuals for me and track them closely. I will first go to welcome the Ancestral Master’s awakening. We will rendezvous later, and you will avenge my son. If I return and you have not found these individuals, you should be well aware of the consequences,” the elder finally decided, after a period of fluctuating emotions, with clear reluctance.

“As you command,” the woman’s expression changed, but she immediately bowed her head and agreed.

“Wuqie, let’s go,” the elder said no more to the woman. He simply instructed the large-horned man, and a large hand covered in green scales extended from the clouds. With a flash, it somehow snatched the remaining corpse from the mist-covered sea below and retracted into the clouds with lightning speed.

“Yes, Master,” the large-horned man respectfully agreed, transforming into a ball of red light that shot out and vanished into the black clouds in an instant.

Then, a rumbling sound emanated from the black clouds, which swiftly rolled away in another direction.

In a blink of an eye, only the pointy-eared woman remained at the location.

When the distant black clouds finally vanished without a trace at the edge of the sky, the woman coiled her furry tail behind her and lifted her head.

Her delicate brows were tightly furrowed, clearly finding the elder’s command extremely difficult.

But she ultimately let out a soft sigh. After scanning her surroundings and confirming the direction, she moved, transforming into a silver light that shot away.

However, after the silver light had fled for over a hundred *zhang*, its spiritual glow suddenly flickered, and the escape light began to blur and dim.

With a final flash, the silver light completely vanished into the air.

In another part of the Demonic Gold Mountain Range, a Soul Transformation and a Void Refinement realm alien were slowly flying at low altitude.

In their hands, each held a palm-sized magical compass. They frequently stopped and started, observing the various reactions on the compasses.

“It’s been several days, and we haven’t even seen a shadow of that Ganoderma Immortal. Uncle Wang, are we searching in the wrong direction?” the thirty-something youth, who was in the Soul Transformation realm, couldn’t help but ask the other person.

“While my divination technique isn't foolproof, it has at least a twenty percent accuracy rate. I’ve performed several divinations, and all of them point to this direction. There’s no mistake,” the other person, a gaunt middle-aged man, replied without lifting his head, his gaze fixed on the compass in his hand.

“Twenty percent, that’s not a high probability,” the youth sighed, seemingly a bit discouraged.

“Hmph, this…”

At this moment, the two happened to be flying past two rather tall mountains.

They were identical to the mountains they had seen earlier, dark and gloomy, but their surfaces were exceptionally smooth, devoid of any vegetation, appearing to be entirely composed of rock.

Therefore, the two paid them little attention. Just as they were about to flash through the mountain peaks, a sudden anomaly occurred.

One side of a mountain facing the two suddenly burst open, and a black light blade several tens of *zhang* long flashed out, striking down.

“Ah!”

The gaunt middle-aged man was greatly alarmed. He hastily opened his mouth and spat out a white, misty shield.

The shield instantly expanded to several *zhang* in size, blocking in front of him.

But the next moment, the black light swept down.

With a dull thud, the middle-aged man and the shield in front of him were instantly obliterated as if by smoke, completely unable to block even a slien of the black light.

Strangely, despite its fierce and dominant power, the black light did not touch the youth in the slightest.

The light passed by the youth’s body, almost brushing him, and plunged into the mist-covered sea below.

Immediately, a rumbling sound emanated from the mist-covered sea, which then split into two, as if cleaved by a colossal blade, revealing a massive chasm over ten *zhang* wide and stretching as far as the eye could see.

It was pitch black inside, appearing unfathomably deep.

Although the youth had reached the Soul Transformation realm, he clearly had little experience in combat. Only now did fear show on his face. He frantically formed a hand seal, transforming into a white rainbow, and shot back along the way he had come.

But at that moment, on a smooth stone wall of the mountain on the other side, a layer of grey light suddenly shimmered. Then, a monstrous face, over ten *zhang* in size, appeared on the stone wall.

As this face opened its mouth wide, a torrent of yellow mist surged out. It swept forth like time reversing, instantly pulling the white rainbow into its mouth.

Immediately after, the large mouth on the stone wall closed, and then a colossal body, several stories high, slowly emerged from the mountain. It was a demonic beast with an enormous head and a body resembling a toad.

This demonic beast was entirely grey-white and smooth, its head alone accounting for nearly half of its entire body size.

It looked truly bizarre.

But no matter how bizarre, when this demonic beast, with its immense body, positioned itself horizontally between the mountain peaks, it naturally appeared terrifying.

From the mountain that had previously unleashed the massive black light, a figure three to four *zhang* tall slowly flew out.

As it drew closer, it became clear that the figure was a seemingly simple and honest man with thick eyebrows and large eyes. He wore a layer of green armor, but on his back were a pair of black fleshy wings, gently flapping.

These wings were exceptionally large, spanning several *zhang* when fully extended. Their surface was devoid of fur, but numerous silver runes flickered on them.

From a distance, the fleshy wings resembled scattered starlight, appearing extremely mysterious.

“Lord Iron Demon, they are merely two individuals from the Spirit Realm. Was it necessary to ambush them specifically?” the gigantic demonic beast, upon seeing the winged figure emerge, surprisingly spoke in human tongue.

“It’s nothing. It’s just that no one has dared to venture deep into the mountain range for a long time. These two appearing here suddenly is rather strange. This is a critical period for the Ancestral Master’s awakening, and I don’t want any unexpected troubles. If there are, they must be dealt with immediately,” the winged grotesque man said indifferently.

“Master is overthinking. Now is precisely the day our Ancestral Master and the high-ranking Spirit Realm cultivators agreed to allow Spirit Realm individuals to enter the slope. It’s not strange for someone to appear here,” the colossal demonic beast droned.

“Enough, Giant Toad. Quickly use your Soul Absorption Art to decompose and digest the spirit of the person you swallowed. I need to know if they are truly ordinary demon beast hunters,” the winged man commanded coldly.

“Yes, Master,” the gigantic demonic beast, seeing the man’s impatience, dared not say more. It rolled its eyes and closed them.

Immediately, a layer of five-colored strange light swirled on the beast’s body, and simultaneously, some black runes appeared in the nearby void, rapidly circling its massive body.

After a full quarter of an hour, when the Giant Toad let out a loud roar and all the black runes entered its body, its enormous eyes opened once more.

“Reporting to master, I have found the reason for their entry here. They were actually looking for an injured Ganoderma Immortal,” the Giant Toad’s voice was somewhat peculiar, clearly, this answer was beyond its expectation as well.

“Ganoderma Immortal? What is that?” the winged man asked, somewhat puzzled.

“It’s a sentient ganoderma lucidum that can transform into human form,” the Giant Toad explained.

“A ganoderma that can transform into human form? Is that true? You didn’t make a mistake, did you?” the man asked, visibly startled and then overjoyed.

“I have completely digested this person’s primordial spirit; there can be no mistake. Why is master also interested in this?” the Giant Toad scratched its massive head with its thick palm, appearing somewhat confused.

“Heh heh, you must know about the shapeshifting demonic imps of our Ancient Demon Realm, right? This Ganoderma Immortal has a similar effect to those creatures,” the winged man said, his eyes gleaming.
