Chapter 1581: Pursuing Soldiers

"Friends, this formation leads directly to the secret passage. I'll go first." The alien named Yuan smiled, raised a hand, and cast a spell onto the teleportation array below.

The formation flashed with white light, and the alien's figure blurred, instantly vanishing without a trace within the array.

Only the statue puppet remained motionless, standing idly in its original spot.

"Brother Yuan's ingenuity is truly remarkable, to have placed the teleportation array inside the puppet's body," the green-skinned alien chuckled. He then took a large step forward, activated the formation with a single raised hand, and was likewise teleported away.

"Brother Han, please go first," the alien radiating red light said, after a brief glance at Han Li, surprisingly showing deference.

Han Li was somewhat surprised but showed no change in expression. He nodded and stepped forward, his body swaying slightly.

The teleportation was incredibly fast! Han Li didn't even feel any discomfort before suddenly appearing in a dimly lit cave.

He looked around. The cave was not large, only about a dozen yards across, but a glowing crystal suspended from the ceiling illuminated everything clearly.

On one side of the cave wall, there was a well-opened square passage, roughly ten feet high.

The large-headed alien and the green-skinned alien stood to one side. The large-headed alien was gravely examining a spell-disk in his hand, his eyes flickering as if deep in thought.

Han Li moved, stepping out of the teleportation array beneath his feet. Moments later, the formation glowed white again, and the red-glowing alien also appeared.

Seeing that everyone had arrived, the large-headed alien raised his head and smiled at them. Just as he was about to speak, a dull roar echoed from all directions, and the entire cave began to tremble slightly.

Instantly, everyone in the cave's expressions subtly changed.

"Don't waste any more time, let's leave here quickly. The city's protective shield probably won't last much longer," the green-skinned alien urged, sounding anxious.

"Yes, it's about time. I'll open the restrictions on the four city gates to let the others escape first."

The large-headed alien nodded solemnly. Suddenly, he tossed the spell-disk into the air and began rapidly forming hand seals.

Streaks of various colored spells flashed and vanished into the spell-disk.

A moment later, the spell-disk emitted a low hum, its surface shimmered with unusual light, and then, with a "bang," it disintegrated and vanished.

This scene made the other three pause in surprise.

Causing a magical artifact to self-destruct seemed to be more than just simply lifting a restriction.

"I've activated a self-destruct formation beneath Greenlight City. In one hour, the entire city will turn to ash," the large-headed alien explained, seeing their astonishment, and chuckled.

"Self-destruct formation," Han Li's heart turned cold at the words.

This person was truly ruthless!

Although most people had gathered at the four gates to escape, there were undoubtedly still many ordinary mortals and cultivators hiding within the city who had not left.

In that case, they would all be buried with Greenlight City.

The other two aliens also exchanged surprised glances upon hearing this.

However, none of the three had a chance to speak. As the large-headed alien finished speaking, he surged forward with a burst of light, turning into a yellow streak that shot towards the passage entrance.

Han Li and the others naturally followed immediately with their own escape lights.

Meanwhile, above Greenlight City, at the gates facing several directions, the light barrier that had enveloped the entire city suddenly opened up, revealing large holes, each over a hundred yards in diameter, above the gates.

The countless aliens who had already gathered at the city gates immediately transformed into numerous streaks of light, shooting out like meteors. With flickering escape lights, they fled the city in all directions.

In an instant, some streaks of light sank underground, disappearing into the soil. Others rolled onto the grass, also vanishing without a trace.

These were indeed aliens skilled in both earth and wood escape techniques!

However, most people still drove various flying artifacts, speeding away at low altitudes.

Almost everyone seemed to have coordinated beforehand; most split off into groups of three to five, fanning out to escape independently, avoiding gathering together.

At this moment, the high-ranking Horned Chi tribe members on the silver "island" high above the city clearly noticed the escape of the city's inhabitants. Immediately, the surface of the colossal island shimmered with silver light, and suddenly, giant white two-headed eagles flew out from it.

These giant eagles not only had two heads and massive bodies three to four yards in size, but they also wore simple white battle armor. Their two enormous talons were fully adorned with sharp metal claw covers, glinting with astonishing cold light.

There were over a thousand of these giant eagles. As soon as they flew from the colossal island, they immediately spread their wings wide and swooped down towards the fleeing Greenlight City aliens below. Each one possessed incredible speed, no less than that of an ordinary Core Formation cultivator.

As soon as these giant eagles finished flying out, spiritual light still flickered on the colossal island, and another large group of things flew forth.

This time, however, what emerged were black canoes, each no more than ten yards long.

These canoes were ten yards long, inscribed with dark runes, and carried several armored warriors in silver battle armor, ranging from three to five or more per canoe.

Over a hundred of these black canoes flew out in one go. Their escape speed was slightly lower than that of the giant eagles, but a single flash could cover eight or nine yards, still surpassing the flying speed of most aliens below.

After these two waves of Horned Chi pursuers flew out, the colossal island quieted down for a moment. But soon after, several dragon roars erupted from the island, and seven or eight massive figures suddenly soared out.

These beings were each several dozen yards long and had a pair of five-colored wings on their backs.

Upon closer inspection, they were winged flood dragons—ferocious beasts resembling dragons with wings!

Aside from their extraordinarily vibrant feathered wings, these winged flood dragons glowed with golden light, otherwise indistinguishable from ordinary flood dragons.

As soon as they flew from the island, their massive bodies merely flickered, and they instantly blurred and vanished in the air.

The next moment, these winged golden flood dragons appeared thirty or forty miles away, their escape speed astonishing.

After these three waves of pursuers flew out from the island, the fleeing aliens in the distance became greatly alarmed and desperately tried to escape even further.

Although there were tens of thousands of these aliens, their cultivation levels varied greatly. Those with higher cultivation had already escaped dozens of miles away, appearing as tiny black dots, while those with the lowest cultivation had only flown a little over ten miles from Greenlight City.

These low-cultivation individuals were also the most numerous, and they were caught by the two-headed giant eagles in mere moments.

The giant eagles swooped down one by one, bringing gusts of fierce wind as they reached low altitudes. Their talons, fitted with sharp claw covers, easily pierced through the protective spiritual light and low-level defensive artifacts of these lower-tier aliens, savagely latching onto their heads and shoulders. Then, with a forceful tear or a violent toss into the air, they dispatched their victims.

Some aliens were instantly torn in half, their blood splattering onto the ground. Others were uncontrollably thrown high into the air, only to be swarmed and pecked by several waiting giant eagles, instantly developing three or four bloody holes in their bodies, thus meeting the same demise.

Of course, some aliens were unwilling to surrender to their fate. Many gathered, either releasing artifacts or performing cultivation techniques, and dense attacks of various colors immediately struck the diving giant eagles.

However, the power of these attacks was too low, and the white battle armor worn by the giant eagles proved to have surprisingly strong defenses.

Except for a mere dozen or so caught off guard and struck in vital points, causing them to fall from the sky, all other attacks hitting the giant eagles were blocked by layers of white light shimmering on their armor.

Instead, these giant eagles seemed to be enraged by the attacks. They shrieked and dived down again, launching even more ferociously intense assaults.

In the blink of an eye, another wave of screams erupted, adding hundreds of bloodstained corpses to the ground.

At this point, the black canoes from behind also flew past overhead.

The armored warriors standing on them merely waved their various weapons, and streaks of silver light shot down from the sky. Anyone struck by them was instantly torn into pieces, completely unable to resist.

Fortunately, these warriors showed no intention of wasting more effort on these lower-level beings. The black canoes flashed continuously, sweeping past at low altitude, heading to pursue the higher-cultivation aliens further ahead.

As for the last few strange flood dragons that flew out, they didn't pause for a moment from the start, soaring at high altitudes directly in pursuit of the highest-cultivation aliens at the very front.

With their escape speed, catching up to those high-tier aliens would only take moments.

For a time, centered on Greenlight City, a grand battle of pursuit and counter-pursuit instantly began!

Meanwhile, in a valley of an unnamed small mountain about ten miles from Greenlight City, a seemingly ordinary stone wall suddenly flashed with green light and exploded with a dull roar.

After the explosion, a large, dark hole abruptly appeared in the stone wall.

Immediately, "whooshing" sounds emanated from the hole, and several dazzling streaks of light shot out from within. After circling once, their escape lights receded, revealing four individuals of varied appearances.

It was Han Li and the others!

Although this location was exceptionally secluded and not in the direction of any of the city gates, meaning no Horned Chi pursuers had yet appeared, the large-headed alien and the others remained cautious. They quickly swept their divine sense around the vicinity before retracting it.

"The Horned Chi tribe hasn't appeared nearby. Let's leave immediately. From now on, we'll act separately and find our own ways to survive.

"If we stay together, it will be hard to hide from the Horned Chi tribe's eyes and ears," the green-skinned alien said, his expression brightening.

"Of course. However, before my fellow Daoists depart, I have one more request. I hope you will not refuse!" The large-headed alien nodded, his gaze sweeping over the other three. After a moment of hesitation, he suddenly spoke.

"A favor? What kind of favor?" the alien glowing red asked, a little surprised.

Han Li and the green-skinned alien also showed expressions of curiosity.
