Chapter 110: Dark Message

We finally made it onto the rankings! This is all thanks to everyone's help, and I, Wangyu, want to express my gratitude to all my readers. However, there's still a chance we could drop from the rankings at any time, so I hope you'll continue to support this book and prevent that from happening! This is today's third update; as long as we're on the list, I'll keep up the momentum and provide three updates a day! I'll go back now to write tomorrow morning's chapter. Thank you all!

"Now that you mention it, Fourth Sister," Second Madam Li said slowly, a slight frown on her brow, "this young man named Han truly has some ability!"

"To be honest," Third Madam said, sighing after a moment of hesitation as she finally spoke her mind, "his self-control is far greater than that of the previous impostor. I remember that young Master Wu, after seeing me, was enchanted by my Heavenly Fox Great Law for an entire day before he recovered. This Han, however, was only somewhat entranced at first but immediately sobered up. This shows his mental strength is extraordinary; he's no ordinary person!"

Upon hearing this, silence fell among the three women. Each seemed deep in thought, as if they had something on their minds that was difficult to voice.

After a moment, Madam Yan gave a wry smile and finally took the initiative to speak. "This person is so capable," she said, "I wonder if he is a blessing or a curse for our Mo Residence?"

"Take out the hidden letter, and everyone will understand!" Before Madam Yan's words had even finished, the cold and beautiful Fifth Madam's voice coolly interjected from outside, and she slowly walked in.

"I have checked," Fifth Madam said expressionlessly. "There are absolutely no outsiders within a two-hundred-meter radius, and the guard posts have been doubled."

Madam Yan lowered her head, thought for a moment, and finally spoke. "You must all remember what my husband said before he left. If the letter he sent back through someone was an open letter with no hidden message, it would mean he was safe and sound, and we could rest assured. If the letter stated that there was a hidden message, then unpleasant news would most likely arrive, and we should prepare ourselves mentally. As for this letter..."

"We have all seen it," Third Madam said, her voice no longer seductive but filled with sorrow. "The letter does indeed state that there is a hidden message. Whether it's good news or bad, this is something we will have to face sooner or later. Let's just take out the real message and look at it."

"Alright!" Madam Yan said decisively. "Since everyone is ready, then let's make the hidden message appear!"

She no longer hesitated. She gently picked up a teacup from a nearby table and placed it in front of her. Then she picked up a kettle and poured half a cup of cool water into it. Next, she gently twisted the dragon-shaped ring on her hand a few times. It twisted into two halves, revealing the hidden white powder in its inner layer.

Madam Yan carefully poured the powder into the teacup, then looked towards the other women.

Under Madam Yan's gaze, Second Madam Li was the first to stand up.

She gracefully approached the table. With a slight raise of her hand, a similar ring was revealed on her fair finger.

Madam Li also took out a considerable amount of powder from her ring and poured it into the teacup. However, her powder was red, and looked quite different from Madam Yan's.

Following this, Third Madam and Fifth Madam each performed the same action in turn. They also each had a dragon-shaped ring, and the hidden powders inside were yellow and black, respectively.

After everyone had completed their part, Madam Yan picked up the teacup and gently swirled it. As a result, the originally multi-colored liquid in the cup turned clear and transparent with the gentle swirling.

"Alright, the revealing fluid is ready," Madam Yan said humbly to Second Madam. "Second Sister, you are the most skillful and dexterous! It would be best for you, Elder Sister, to apply this to the letter!"

Madam Li smiled faintly upon hearing Madam Yan's words. She did not decline, but took the fluid and the letter, then began to work with her head bowed.

For the next period, apart from Madam Li who was applying the fluid to the letter, the other women remained silent, making the atmosphere in the room increasingly tense.

"It's done," Madam Li said with a smile to Fifth Madam, straightening up and wiping the perspiration from her brow. "All the letter pages have been covered. Now, Fifth Sister, it's your turn to help. Please dry it with your inner energy!"

The cold and beautiful young woman nodded and deftly took the damp letter pages.

She then extended her other hand. With a slight exertion of her energy, her palm emitted a faint heat. She then held the letter pages still, two or three inches above her palm, and slowly began to dry them in this manner.

Before long, the letter was completely dry. The black ink on the letter had vanished without a trace. Instead, some faint red characters appeared. This was the hidden message that Doctor Mo had painstakingly arranged for Han Li to deliver to his wife and daughters.

Han Li was unaware of everything that was happening in the room after he left. At this moment, he was experiencing a major headache because of the little imp before him!

This Third Miss Mo, unexpectedly, halfway through their journey, brazenly began to demand from him what she called a "senior disciple's welcome gift."

"What kind of gift do you want, Junior Sister?" Feeling helpless, Han Li reluctantly prepared to satisfy her demands.

"Any jewelry, fun, or interesting items will do," Mo Caihuan said, blinking her dark, innocent eyes. "I'm not very picky! If not, seven or eight thousand taels of silver would be passable—that would count as you passing the test!"

"Seven or eight thousand taels of silver?" Han Li nearly fell to the ground upon hearing this. *This little imp really is making an exorbitant demand, and isn't shy at all! Even if I counted every penny on me, I wouldn't have that much silver. And even if I did, I couldn't possibly give it to her; she really thinks I'm a gullible fool!* Han Li thought to himself, his expression unchanged, but his gaze towards the girl conveyed a hint of this thought.

Mo Caihuan was also very clever and immediately caught on to some of Han Li's thoughts.

She pouted her little mouth and deliberately cried out dramatically, "Senior Brother Han, you wouldn't seriously give no gift at all to your adorable junior sister on her first meeting, would you? You should know, that Young Master Wu who came two years ago gave me more than ten thousand taels of silver notes as pocket money right after we met!"

Upon hearing this, Han Li was furious! *That Wu fellow was after your family's wealth and beauty! I have absolutely no such intentions, and besides, your father planted a deadly poison in me; my life could be in danger at any moment!*

In his anger, Han Li simply looked up at the sky, motionless and expressionless. He wanted to see how this little imp would manage to extract a huge benefit from him!

Mo Caihuan saw that Han Li, this rustic young man, was pretending to be deaf and dumb, not saying a word and completely ignoring her. She couldn't help but feel a little anxious!

Ever since a year ago, after she had swindled a large sum of private money from that impostor, she had dreamed every night of another easy target coming her way, so she could extort heavily from him.

Now that she finally had another chance, this fellow, who seemed to be her father's true disciple, was utterly unyielding, and his skin was thicker than a city wall. How could he stubbornly pretend to be foolish and show no sympathy to such a cute girl like her? Couldn't he see she was almost crying from her acting? Yet he remained unmoved. It was infuriating!

(If you find this book enjoyable, please don't forget to add it to your collection.)
