Chapter 1080: Soul Devourer

Volume Five: Renowned Across the Land

Volume Six: Heavenly Spirit Treasures

The black wolf was shocked, hurriedly urging the blood flame on its body to instantly envelop the green threads. But to its utter surprise, a cold snort came from the silver arc. The green threads, sparkling with spiritual light, showed not the slightest sign of being burned.

A heavy feeling settled in the demon's heart.

Just as it was momentarily unable to move, the transformed silver wolf flashed and shot forward. The demon couldn't evade; with a flicker of spiritual light, the silver wolf merged into its body and vanished.

The giant wolf's body shuddered, and both wolf heads simultaneously let out horrific shrieks.

Its body began to convulse violently. One wolf head suddenly looked blank, then its eyes became piercingly bright again. Immediately, it tilted its head and bit the neck of the other wolf head.

At that moment, the fur on this head instantly turned elegant white.

The black wolf head naturally wouldn't surrender. It also opened its maw and bit back. In an instant, the two heads began tearing at each other.

Just then, a figure flickered in the silver arc. Han Li emerged, holding the Profound-Heaven Cauldron, and glanced at the two-headed giant wolf with a hint of concern.

Although the silver wolf head had gained the upper hand, as soon as the wolf's body returned to normal, black light flickered all over it. Layers of demonic energy surged towards the black wolf head, making it fight with increasing ferocity.

Seeing this, Han Li's expression darkened. He suddenly made a light gesture towards the Profound-Heaven Cauldron with one hand, and a clear chime immediately rang out.

The green threads binding the giant wolf suddenly burst forth with spiritual light, then tightened, making the wolf's body completely unable to move.

Then Han Li opened his mouth again, and a golden arc shot out, striking the ferociously abnormal black wolf head. Golden light exploded, and fine electric arcs flickered. The demonic energy on the black wolf head immediately dispersed. After a scream, its demonic energy greatly diminished.

Seizing this opportunity, the silver wolf head lifted its neck. An identical silver wolf head phantom suddenly extended, swallowing the black wolf head. Then, with a tug backward, it pulled out a chilling black shadow from within. This black shadow was formless, like a mass of mud, but the various ghastly faces it transformed into were all ferocious and continued to tear at the silver phantom.

From within the silver phantom came a bone-chilling cold snort from Yin Yue. The silver light was dazzling. The silver phantom's size suddenly expanded several times, swallowing the black light shadow. Then it contracted again, merging back into the silver wolf head.

In an instant, the black wolf head, which had been desperately tearing, became still. Its eyes were blank and lifeless. The silver wolf head completely ignored this head, instead curling it up and trembling slightly, as if experiencing extreme pain.

Seeing this, Han Li felt a sense of relief. He tossed the small cauldron in his hand onto the giant wolf's body, then pointed at it several times.

Large swathes of green mist swept out from it, instantly enveloping the giant wolf into a huge ball of light.

Then Han Li scanned the entire space, his expression changing. He suddenly flew towards the vicinity of the seal.

A moment later, he flew over another pile of altar ruins. With a casual flick of his hand, several crimson fire beads shot downwards.

After a series of explosions, a large pit appeared before him. Black light flickered within the pit, indicating something was present.

The humanoid puppet made a grasping motion in the air, and the item was easily pulled into its hand.

Upon closer inspection, it was a small remnant piece of the Black Wind Flag. Although most of this spirit treasure had been destroyed, it still emitted astonishing spiritual energy, clearly indicating its spiritual essence was not entirely lost.

Han Li gazed deeply at the item, then with a gesture of his palm, he unceremoniously put it into his storage pouch.

Although he had no idea how to repair a Heavenly Spirit Treasure, or if it could truly be repaired, its crafting materials were long extinct in this realm, so its value was naturally immeasurable.

After putting away the item, Han Li did not return to the giant wolf. Instead, he unhesitatingly soared towards a corner of the space, flying higher and higher, and soon disappeared into the clouds again.

His escape light halted. Han Li stopped, his expression grave. Not far ahead, a light green orb of light floated, and inside, a verdant wooden ruler slowly rotated. This was another Heavenly Spirit Treasure, the Eight Spirit Ruler. Although this treasure was intact, it was a Buddhist artifact, which greatly restrained demonic cultivation. Therefore, the separated soul of Patriarch Wuli could only stare, unable to immediately demonize it for its own use.

Of course, if this demon were to recover its full powers from its peak, that would be another matter entirely.

Han Li looked at the Eight Spirit Ruler, not daring to act rashly.

When he had subdued the Profound-Heaven Cauldron previously, the Azure-Blue Ice Flame had almost cost him his life. Who knew what other tricks this Eight Spirit Ruler might hold? Thinking of this, Han Li's divine sense moved. The humanoid puppet, which had followed closely, flickered and shot directly towards the Eight Spirit Ruler, seizing it with a grab. No unusual phenomenon appeared.

Han Li was overjoyed. He took the treasure from the puppet's hand and playfully examined it.

The treasure felt extraordinarily smooth, cool as jade. With a slight shake, threads of green light pulsed continuously. However, when spiritual energy was infused, no anomaly appeared whatsoever.

Han Li was slightly taken aback.

Just then, the ball of light enveloping the giant wolf in the distance suddenly emitted a muffled sound, then burst open with flashing spiritual light.

Startled, Han Li quickly put away the Eight Spirit Ruler, and swiftly pointed twice at the Profound-Heaven Cauldron in the distance, a hint of nervousness on his face.

The Profound-Heaven Cauldron whistled directly towards Han Li, instantly transforming into a ball of green light that landed in his hand.

Han Li narrowed his eyes slightly, gazing gravely into the distance.

After the green light scattered and disappeared, an elegant figure slowly stood up. It was the giant wolf, but now it had a single head instead of two, and its entire body was silvery white, exceptionally bright. It raised its head and looked at Han Li.

Han Li was overjoyed and immediately flew back. But halfway there, upon meeting the wolf's eyes, he felt an unusually cold gaze.

His heart skipped a beat, and he had a faint premonition of something bad.

The giant wolf's figure flickered, and in a silver light, it transformed into a graceful, elegant woman—precisely Ling Long's appearance.

The woman looked at Han Li expressionlessly, a cold smile appearing at the corner of her lips.

"You are Ling Long?" Han Li gasped, asking gravely.

"It's not wrong to say I'm Ling Long. After all, my current consciousness is indeed primarily Ling Long's." Ling Long raised a pair of delicate jade hands, gazing at her exceptionally crystalline fingers. Though she tried to appear calm, the hint of excitement in her eyes clearly revealed her true feelings at that moment.

"How is Yin Yue?" Han Li's expression changed several times. Finally, he licked his upper lip and asked calmly.

"She's fine. She merely consumed a lot of divine sense during the soul-devouring process and has fallen into a deep sleep. Otherwise, I wouldn't have been able to emerge so smoothly." The excitement in Ling Long's eyes gradually receded, and she replied with a strange look, though her voice remained calm and indifferent.

"What are your plans now?" Han Li felt a subconscious sense of relief upon hearing Yin Yue was unharmed.

But he asked calmly.

"Plans? Naturally, I'll return to the Spirit Realm. What, you can't bear to part with Xue Ling and want to keep her here?" Ling Long raised an eyebrow, her voice turning cold.

Hearing the woman's undisguised words, Han Li's face flushed slightly, but he immediately averted his gaze and returned to his usual demeanor. "You should be well aware that Yin Yue originally intended to return to the Spirit Realm. I won't stop her, nor can I."

"It's best that you're so sensible. Originally, it was my intention to reclaim the spirit treasures in your hands. But seeing as you assisted me during the soul-devouring process, and Xue Ling had already made promises to you, I, Ling Long, as the great princess of the Silvermoon Clan, am not one to disregard debts or grievances. That small cauldron and the Eight Spirit Ruler can remain with you. However, from this day forward, any ties between you and Xue Ling are severed. Even if you ascend to the Spirit Realm in the future, if you dare appear before me, I will immediately strike you down."

Ling Long gazed at Han Li, a sudden trace of killing intent appearing between her brows.

Han Li's expression changed slightly, but he quickly became nonchalant, neither agreeing nor refusing verbally.

The silver-haired woman didn't intend to force a promise from Han Li; she merely conveyed her words. Then, she raised a hand, and a black light shot forth.

Han Li was startled at first, but after recognizing the object, he relaxed. Without a word, he made a grasping motion in the air and seized it.

This item was precisely the black flying knife that the separated soul of Patriarch Yuansha had taken. The woman actually returned it to him. Han Li naturally accepted it without ceremony and casually tossed it to the humanoid puppet behind him.

At this point, Ling Long ignored Han Li and walked to the center, subtly inspecting the seal there. She nodded casually.

Then, after a cold glance at Han Li, she suddenly walked towards him again.

Han Li was startled and immediately became highly vigilant. "Give me a few drops of your ten-thousand-year spiritual liquid. I need it to open the Inverse Spirit Channel," Ling Long said without any courtesy.

Han Li's lips twitched. He slapped his waist, and several small bottles immediately appeared in his hand. Silently, he threw them all to the woman.

Ling Long flicked her long sleeve, and the jade bottles were silently collected within. The entire motion was noiseless and extremely elegant.

Afterward, the woman walked to a vacant spot nearby, sat down cross-legged, and began forming hand seals.

Pleasant incantations softly emanated from her mouth. Her body floated without wind, emitting shimmering silver light all around her.

The dazzling light gradually enveloped the woman's form. From a distance, she seemed to have truly transformed into a silver moon.

Just then, Ling Long suddenly opened her previously closed eyes. With an open mouth, she spat out the circular disk formed by the Reverse Star Plate's imprint.

Han Li watched from a distance, frowning.

No matter how he looked at this disk, he couldn't find anything amiss. It didn't resemble an imprint at all; the spiritual energy upon it was dense, no less than that of a top-tier treasure.

As Han Li pondered in doubt, the disk circled once, then flew to hover steadily above the silver-haired woman's head. Seeing this, Ling Long immediately began flicking her fingers at the treasure repeatedly.

Streaks of spells of various colors struck the disk. The treasure absorbed each one.

After only a brief delay, a great change began!
