A Record of a Mortal's Journey to Immortality, Volume 6: Heavenly Spiritual Treasure
As the black-robed woman finally revealed her silver wolf demon form, Han Li and four others, including Xu Guiling, slowly surrounded a figure glowing faintly red.
All four stared at the person with grim expressions.
Meanwhile, the Silver-winged Yaksha and the Lion Beast watched the scene from afar, appearing to have no intention of interfering.
"Friends, what is the meaning of this? Why are you surrounding me? I assure you, I have done nothing to offend any of you!"
The figure in the red glow was an old man who appeared to be over fifty. He had a kind and amiable demeanor, but his eyes darted nervously. It was none other than the Dispersed True Person!
"Since you teleported here, why did you stealthily conceal yourself?" the young man surnamed Xu asked expressionlessly. "Unless you're up to no good, you must have ulterior motives."
"My friends, you jest," the Dispersed True Person complained profusely. "I arrived abruptly. Upon seeing so many powerful cultivators here, before knowing if you were friend or foe, it was only natural for me to be cautious."
"Is that so? And you chose to hide right next to me? Your technique is truly remarkable. If the five-colored spiritual light from my Spiritual Rhinoceros Peacock hadn't happened to sweep that area, I probably wouldn't have noticed anything at all," Lin Yinping said, raising a delicate eyebrow, her expression quite displeased.
"Fairy, you've misunderstood. That was..."
The Dispersed True Person was about to explain with a forced smile, but at that moment, Han Li interjected coldly:
"Before we entered the Demon-Suppressing Pagoda, did you use a treasure to secretly attack me? You fled incredibly fast then, but I still caught a glimpse of your back. Furthermore, even if that blood blade was sealed, that fierce, ominous blood aura still faintly emanated from you. Throughout this journey, that blood has probably devoured many Nascent Soul cultivators. I didn't encounter a single one of those cultivators who entered with you on my way here. Their fate, hehe..."
Upon hearing this, the young man and Lin Yinping felt a chill in their hearts.
The Dispersed True Person's expression froze, but he immediately shook his head vehemently like a rattle-drum, denying everything:
"Friend Han, please don't speak such nonsense! What blood aura? I, Zheng, am merely a rogue cultivator. How could I possess such a heaven-defying artifact capable of slaying cultivators of the same rank? Without proof, you'd be unjustly accusing me!"
"Evidence? Absurd. If it's not you, then you die!" A cold glint flashed across Han Li's face. After a sharp shout, a small, inch-long golden sword spurted from his mouth, transforming into a golden beam that fiercely struck towards the Dispersed True Person.
The young man surnamed Xu and Lin Yinping exchanged glances, showing no intention of intervening.
The Dispersed True Person was startled. While continuously muttering words like "beg for mercy" and "misunderstanding," he flicked his sleeve and released a blue flying sword to block Han Li's attack.
The two flying swords immediately intertwined and battled, with spiritual light flashing and bursting continuously in the air.
Han Li merely sneered at this.
With a hand seal, the Azure Bamboo Cloudswarm Swords immediately flared with golden light. After the blue flying sword let out a wail, it was instantly cleaved into two by a flash of golden light, falling from the sky as scrap metal.
The Dispersed True Person was startled and helplessly raised his hand again, summoning a green copper shield. The result was the same: it was also cleaved into several pieces, utterly unable to block Han Li's sword light.
This scene made the young man surnamed Xu's eye twitch.
After all, refined materials, rare treasures in this world, weren't used for just any flying sword. Han Li's sword was exceptionally sharp, making the Grand Immortal Master extremely wary.
The golden flying sword then smoothly descended towards the Dispersed True Person's head.
The Dispersed True Person's expression changed rapidly. Suddenly, a white light flashed on his foot, and he transformed into a white blur, shooting to one side. However, black and white spiritual light flashed before him, as Guiling, seemingly rigid, blocked his path. Startled, the Dispersed True Person merely twisted his body and tried to escape in another direction.
The young man surnamed Xu, however, calmly took a step, and equally strangely, blocked his escape route, forcing the Dispersed True Person to halt his escape light.
With just that brief delay, the golden light was already above his head. After a buzzing sound, it transformed into numerous sword shadows that directly enveloped him.
Seeing no escape, a trace of ferocity finally appeared on the Dispersed True Person's face. He abruptly flicked his sleeve, and a streak of bloody light rapidly shot out.
With a "bang," the golden sword shadows instantly dispersed and reverted to their original form. The foot-long golden sword flew backward several *zhang*, while the streak of bloody light trembled and transformed into over ten bloody streaks, pursuing it rapidly.
A series of slashing sounds rose one after another, instantly submerging the golden sword. A thick, bloody aura permeated the space, causing all cultivators and demons present to frown.
Han Li, however, squinted his eyes, watching everything unfold in the air, his expression unmoving. It was as if the object being attacked in the air wasn't his life-bound magical treasure.
The young man surnamed Xu glanced at Han Li, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes.
The Dispersed True Person also seemed to realize something was amiss. His expression darkened as he pointed at the air. Immediately, all the bloody light flew back. After a swirl, it re-condensed above his head into a six-inch-long short blade, blood-red in color and enveloped by a faint mist of blood.
"It truly is you! Your blade is a replica of the Demon Dragon Blade, isn't it?" Han Li said slowly, gazing at the short blade.
As the words "Demon Dragon Blade" left his mouth, everyone else's expression changed. Even the Silver-winged Yaksha, a strange glint flashed in his eyes as he stared at the blood blade in the air.
The Dispersed True Person did not answer Han Li. Instead, he stared at the golden flying sword near Han Li, a shocked expression on his face.
Despite so many slashes from the blood blade, the sword body still glowed golden, appearing to have not even a single scratch. This was difficult for the Dispersed True Person, who knew the current power of the blood blade well, to believe.
"Don't bother," Han Li said, his mouth curling into a slight smirk. "My flying sword is somewhat special. Even if your blood blade's power is immense, trying to destroy it is a foolish fantasy." He raised his hand and beckoned towards the air; the flying sword trembled and shot back to him.
"What? You don't want to kill me anymore?" the Dispersed True Person said, a glint in his eyes.
"Kill you? Why would I? Those people you killed are unrelated to me; I have no interest in avenging them. If you truly weren't the person I suspected, killing you would have been fine, and keeping you wouldn't have been useful either. But now that you possess such a powerful treasure, we might actually be able to team up with you," Han Li said with a chilling smile.
"Friend Han, you mean..." The young man surnamed Xu's expression shifted, as he vaguely guessed Han Li's intentions.
"To get out of here, we can only rely on brute force," Han Li said in a deep voice. "Although that black wind is a Heavenly Spiritual Treasure, Saint Ancestor Yuancha must divide her attention to deal with her enemies, so she probably cannot unleash its full power. If we concentrate our attacks on a single point in space, we should have a chance to break through."
Having once broken through space in the Spirit Myriad Garden, he had some confidence in his heart.
Although he had managed it by finding a stable point in space that time, he wasn't the only Nascent Soul cultivator trapped here now. If they could cooperate skillfully, their combined power should be great enough to achieve it.
"Friend Han's reasoning makes sense," the young man surnamed Xu said after a moment's thought, turning to ask the Silver-winged Yaksha, "Silver-winged friend, what do you think?"
"This person's blood blade seems to possess considerable power. As long as it helps us leave this place, it's certainly worth a try!" the Silver-winged Yaksha said without hesitation, after a strange glint flashed in his eyes as he stared at the Dispersed True Person for a moment.
Seeing this, Han Li nodded slightly, then spoke calmly to the Dispersed True Person not far away:
"You've heard our conditions. We mean you no harm. Let's join forces to break open this space. Helping us is also helping yourself. You wouldn't want your Nascent Soul to be devoured by demons like this, would you?"
The Dispersed True Person's expression remained unchanged, but his eyes flickered incessantly, clearly considering Han Li's suggestion.
"After we leave here, we'll go our separate ways. You won't try to settle scores later, will you?" the Dispersed True Person finally asked.
"Do you take us for those self-righteous busybodies of the righteous path? As long as you don't attack us again, who would be interested in troubling you!" the young man surnamed Xu snorted disdainfully.
"That's true," the Dispersed True Person suddenly smiled, agreeing readily. "If those Taiyi Sect fellows were here, I'd genuinely have to consider it twice. But since you all put it this way, I, Zheng, certainly won't refuse."
The other party's quick agreement both surprised Han Li and was, at the same time, quite reasonable.
The group immediately gathered to discuss how they would coordinate their efforts.
Clearly, to break through this spatial barrier, the greater the attack power, the better. However, this didn't mean they could just unleash all their attacks simultaneously. After all, their attack methods, magical treasures, and attributes were all different. If they simply mixed them together, it could have the opposite effect, actually reducing the attack's overall power.
"Friend Han," the young man surnamed Xu suddenly said to Han Li, seemingly casually, after only a few words of discussion, "I recall you have another companion who remains invisible. Why not call him out to join us? That friend's flying sword clearly possesses considerable power."
The Silver-winged Yaksha and the others also stirred, looking at Han Li.
Han Li secretly cursed the young man surnamed Xu in his heart, but his expression remained normal on the surface. After a slight pause for thought, he replied:
"Rest assured, friends, that companion will certainly lend us a hand. But there's no need to call him out; due to his cultivation technique, it's inconvenient for him to reveal himself to you all."
Hearing Han Li's words, the young man surnamed Xu showed dissatisfaction. However, having just witnessed Han Li's bizarre divine ability when attacking the twin-headed ancient demon, he didn't dare to press further. He could only snort coldly and drop the matter.
The Dispersed True Person, who had been smiling continuously since agreeing to cooperate, noticed that Han Li seemed to have significant friction with the young man surnamed Xu and the others. A cold glint quietly flashed in his pupils.
Just then, his expression suddenly changed slightly, then immediately returned to normal. He slowly lowered his head, making it impossible to see his face, as if lost in deep thought.
In reality, his lips subtly moved without cease. He was secretly transmitting a message to someone else present.
A moment later, he raised his head again, his face once more adorned with a smiling expression. No one noticed, however, that on the back of the hand he held behind his back, dense, several-inch-long white hairs had appeared at some unknown point, each strand as hard as a needle.
