VIP Volume 6: Heavenly Spiritual Treasure - A Mortal's Journey to Immortality
“Oh! A place like that is perfect. Let’s go. If we happen to encounter a fight and I get carried away, we’ll just have to shake them off quickly.” Han Li nodded and put away his puppet.
The two then activated their escape light and shot towards the hall entrance.
With their cultivation, they reached the edge of the North Pole Primordial Light in an instant. The anti-flight restriction activated again, forcing them to descend and use light body techniques to conserve spiritual power.
Han Li scanned the area with his divine sense. There was no one guarding outside the North Pole Primordial Light. This surprised him greatly, though he was also delighted.
He called out to Gui Ling, and with one hand gripping the Primordial Gang Shield and the other holding the Three Flames Fan, he calmly walked out of the North Pole Primordial Light.
He cautiously looked around again, ensuring no one was truly ambushing them, before slowly stepping out of Kunwu Hall.
Outside, it was still quiet, but the sight before him made Han Li’s expression subtly change.
On the large plaza outside, besides two rows of fallen Golden Magnetic Spirit Trees, there were pits everywhere and shattered stones scattered across the ground. It looked as though an exceptionally fierce battle had taken place, and judging by the damage, more than just two or three people had been fighting.
Gui Ling emerged from behind him and was also stunned by the scene outside.
“What happened? Did those people start fighting among themselves?” she wondered.
“Not necessarily. They might have encountered the first wave of cultivators. Although I don’t know their origins, since they could independently unseal Kunwu Mountain, their abilities must be extraordinary,” Han Li said calmly, his voice deep.
“That’s true. When the first group broke the mountain’s restrictions, I followed from afar and took a look. There were about six or seven of them. At least two of them had cultivation levels no lower than mine,” Gui Ling sighed.
“Oh, do you remember what they looked like? As for the previous wave of cultivators, I only saw a square-faced middle-aged man. That person, relying on just one treasure, was able to hold his own against Old Devil Gan and barely defend himself. This shows that their faction is truly remarkable,” Han Li’s curiosity was piqued, and he couldn’t help but press for more details.
“The cultivation of those two was extraordinary. How could I dare approach too closely? I only scanned them briefly with my divine sense,” Gui Ling shook her head.
Upon hearing this, Han Li felt a pang of disappointment. He had wanted to figure out if that ancient devil was among the first group of cultivators so he could scheme to reclaim those two flying swords.
Now that he had Gui Ling and the humanoid puppet, Han Li was confident enough to contend with his opponents, no longer needing to avoid them as he had before.
“Let’s go! For these cultivators, defeating an opponent might not be difficult, but to completely annihilate them wouldn’t be easy. Most likely, they chased each other to another location,” Han Li’s eyes flickered a few times as he spoke, a thoughtful expression on his face.
Although he said this, Han Li knew very well that something unusual must have happened. Otherwise, setting aside the cultivators of the Yin Luo Sect, why would the cultivators from the Heavenly Origin Grasslands leave so easily?
They had pursued him all the way from the grasslands, clearly determined to get what they wanted from him.
Could it be that the first wave of cultivators was truly that powerful, forcing all the other cultivators to retreat?
But that didn’t make sense! If the first wave had gained the upper hand, they wouldn’t have left the hall entrance unguarded, waiting to snatch treasures.
Han Li’s mind raced, but he couldn’t come up with anything. He rubbed his chin, then simply decided not to think about it anymore.
No matter what had happened, his objectives for this trip had been fully achieved. All he needed to do now was to safely escape this major whirlpool.
As for the two flying swords in the ancient devil’s possession, he would figure out a way to retrieve them after leaving this place.
Having weighed the pros and cons, Han Li immediately made a decision.
“Let’s go, Fellow Daoist Gui! Let’s head to that secret place you mentioned first, and never mind the others. In a few days, who knows how many more cultivators will flood in!” Han Li sneered and took the lead, floating down onto the stone platform.
Gui Ling gave a wry smile and could only follow Han Li down.
Along the way, they could faintly see numerous traces of battle: sword marks and charred wood were everywhere.
These cultivators had indeed pursued each other all the way out.
“This is…”
Suddenly, a huge chasm appeared ahead. Han Li took a few steps forward, stood at the edge, and after a few glances, his brows furrowed tightly.
The enormous chasm was undoubtedly caused by a single strike from some kind of blade-type treasure. It had cut the entire stone staircase into two, stretching over a hundred zhang long and more than thirty zhang deep. It was truly astonishing to behold!
At the very least, Han Li mused, even if he used his Grand Sword Art, he wouldn’t be able to achieve such a feat.
“It seems these cultivators truly went all out, even resorting to such powerful divine abilities. The battle was probably much more intense than anticipated,” Silvermoon’s leisurely voice echoed in Han Li’s mind.
“Perhaps! But what does that have to do with me?” Han Li transmitted back dismissively. Then, lightly tapping his toes on the ground, he floated directly across the massive chasm.
Gui Ling followed closely.
The moment his feet landed, Han Li’s expression shifted. He turned and looked towards a large boulder to one side, a cold glint in his eyes.
“Which fellow daoist is there? You may come out!” Han Li’s face darkened, and he shouted sternly.
A ball of black mist shot out from behind the boulder, faintly enveloping a figure within.
“Oh!”
Han Li was somewhat surprised, but how could he let the opponent slip away under his nose? After all, no matter which faction the cultivators in this mountain belonged to, they seemed to be his adversaries, so there was no need to be polite.
With a rumble of thunder behind him, Han Li instantly vanished from his spot. The next moment, a silver arc appeared, and Han Li materialized in front of the black mist.
He hovered motionless in the air, pressing his single hand forward into the void.
With a “Zzzzzzt” sound, a large green hand materialized out of thin air and swiftly grabbed downwards.
The Nascent Soul, startled, caused the black mist around it to surge, attempting to instantly teleport away.
This was also because it had been severely injured during a previous battle. Otherwise, it would have used instant teleportation from the start.
However, having captured Nascent Souls of cultivators so many times, Han Li was incredibly skilled at cornering them.
As the opponent began to cast its spell, a hint of mockery appeared at the corner of his mouth.
Amidst thunder, golden light shimmered from the five fingers of the large green hand. Five thick golden arcs suddenly shot out, exploding instantly and forming a large golden net that enveloped everything below.
And almost simultaneously, the Nascent Soul blurred and crashed head-first into the Abyssal-Cleansing Divine Thunder.
With a loud “boom,” the golden arcs exploded, scattering more than half of the Nascent Soul’s protective black mist.
The Nascent Soul itself swayed violently, appearing on the verge of collapse.
In such a situation, the large green hand swiftly grabbed, firmly seizing the Nascent Soul and flying back to Han Li.
Han Li briefly examined the Nascent Soul. With a faint smile at its terrified gaze, he then transformed into a green rainbow and shot downwards, returning to the ground.
The large hand, still holding the Nascent Soul captive, followed him down and landed beside Han Li.
“Is this person…?” Gui Ling scanned the Nascent Soul with a slight look of surprise.
Though without a physical body, the features of this Nascent Soul clearly belonged to one of the two black-robed elders from the Yin Luo Sect. This elder had apparently fallen victim to some deadly attack, with only his Nascent Soul managing to escape and hide behind that boulder.
“Fellow Daoist Han, what do you intend? This old man bears no enmity with you, nor did I participate in the pursuit of you in any way!” The Nascent Soul’s face was pale. As the large hand’s grip slightly loosened, allowing it to speak, it immediately pleaded in a thin voice.
“Hehe, why the panic, fellow daoist? When did I say I would act against you? I merely wish to ask what happened outside? Who were you and the Heavenly Origin Grasslands cultivators fighting, and why are you no longer guarding the hall entrance? Oh, and did you see the two women from the hall and the two demon beasts, the Silver-winged Yakshas?” Han Li asked calmly, his expression unchanged.
Seeing Han Li’s pleasant demeanor, the Nascent Soul felt a slight relief and quickly replied, not daring to provoke him:
“Not long after you few entered, the Ye family cultivators suddenly arrived. The Ye family’s Grand Elder was among them. Upon seeing us, they immediately attacked. Under Fellow Daoist Xu’s leadership, we had to hastily fend them off. We were barely able to resist, but just then, the Demon-Suppressing Pagoda suddenly vibrated, and then most of the mountain peak there collapsed. It seemed the entire pagoda had sunk into the mountain, and…” The Nascent Soul’s voice trailed off slightly here, but under Han Li’s darkening gaze, a chill went through its heart, and it immediately continued:
“…And a radiant light shot out from the Demon-Suppressing Pagoda, accompanied by astonishing Buddhist chanting and resonating sounds. The noise was so loud that we could hear it clearly even from here. Then, someone, I don’t know who, shouted ‘Heavenly Spiritual Treasure!’, and everyone abandoned everything else, fleeing towards the Demon-Suppressing Pagoda. The two women from the Sound Transformation Sect and the two Silver-winged Yaksha demons, upon exiting, also witnessed that anomaly and went along. As for me, I specifically stayed behind to inform the Grand Elder of this matter.”
“Heavenly Spiritual Treasure! Has such a treasure truly appeared? And how was your physical body destroyed?” Han Li asked, greatly surprised.
“Whether it’s a Heavenly Spiritual Treasure, I don’t know. But that anomaly was certainly not something an ordinary treasure could produce. And since Fellow Daoist Xu and the Ye family’s Grand Elder, along with other late-stage cultivators, went there without hesitation, it shouldn’t be false, right? As for my physical body, it was ambushed by that scoundrel, Loose Immortal Sizan. That villain somehow snuck up on me and suddenly slashed me with a blood-red long blade. As a result, all the essence blood in my body was immediately absorbed by that blade. That demonic blade was terrifying! If I hadn’t decisively abandoned my body and instantly teleported away, I’m afraid even my Nascent Soul wouldn’t have been spared,” the Nascent Soul said, gritting its teeth.
“What kind of blade could be so powerful?” Han Li raised an eyebrow, asking in surprise, appearing somewhat skeptical.
“I don’t know, it was the first time I’d seen such a treasure. However, aside from the color being off, the appearance of that blood blade seems seventy to eighty percent similar to the legendary Demon Dragon Blade! And its power also seems somewhat similar. But if it truly were the Demon Dragon Blade, how could I have had any chance to escape?” The Nascent Soul’s mouth silently opened and closed a couple of times before it replied with some uncertainty.
“Demon Dragon Blade!”
Upon hearing this, Han Li’s expression changed dramatically.
